Youth

Blue Ridge Temple Baptist Church youth ministry exists:

To listen to God at all times in our efforts

to reach lost students,

to train youth into maturity so they are eager

to live by God’s standards so they will be able

to share the gospel as they learn

to build relationships within God’s family.

Above all, we understand that we have to listen to God. God is our leader, so we must listen to know what He wants us to do. We read in Acts 22:14, 14 Then He said, “The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just one, and hear the voice of His mouth.” God is speaking to each of us so that we can build His kingdom, but if we do not listen to Him, we will miss what He has for our ministry.

We must learn that God has commissioned us to reach lost people. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “ 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” This is a commandment from Christ. This must be our purpose in our life.

We have to train a new generation on how to live by God’s standards. We have to develop them into maturity, so they understand the cause to reach the lost. In Hebrews 5:13-14, the Bible says, “13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is those who by reason of use have their senses exercise to discern both good and evil.

We need to live by God’s standards, so that a lost world can see what Jesus does in our lives. From 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, we read, “14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” We must realize that our life is a gift from God, and we should live every moment for Him.

We have to be able to share the gospel with anyone we may meet. We must have the ability to give our testimony and explain what God has done for us in our life. We read in 2 Timothy 1:12. “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” This statement embodies our whole salvation for we have nothing else to believe in except Him and His ability.

We must realize that we need to build relationships within God’s family, so that we have a family that love is shared through. Love between these members is essential for the growth of God’s kingdom. Knowing that Jesus is love, we will love everyone that is around us. We find in John 13:35, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” We must build this family with love for each other or no one will know that we are His disciples.

Our ministry exists only by the grace of God. He is the Architect. We therefore will look to Him in all things. When times are tough we will follow His plan, because we accept His will to be perfect. We will listen to the words of 2 Corinthians 4:1:“Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do no lose heart.”
